St. Teresa of Calcutta

“It is my great good fortune and a great grace from God that my meeting with Mother Teresa that night turned out to be only the first of many such meetings. For thirty-five years I received many spiritual messages from this saintly woman, almost always wordlessly, by good example. I was immensely privileged to play a small role in helping her sisters open their house in the South Bronx, their second house in the New York area. I was also able to be of assistance when the sisters founded their first house for the contemplative Missionaries of Charity. I met with Fr. Sebastian, the first priest in the community of male contemplative Missionaries of Charity—priests and brothers—that Mother Teresa founded.”

“Throughout her life she helped countless people, making God’s love real in the lives of untold numbers. This tiny Albanian nun who wrapped herself in a white sari and lived for decades among the poorest people in one of the poorest cities in the world has revealed to us all not only the love but also the humility of God.”

This is taken from Father Benedict’s book entitled “Travelers Along The Way; The Men and Women Who Shaped My Life” about Mother Teresa.

“The fruit of silence is prayer. The fruit of prayer is faith. The fruit of faith is love. The fruit of love is service. The fruit of service is peace.” —St. Teresa of Calcutta
