Abandonment to Divine Providence, a book which has been called one of the ten great spiritual classics, is a collection of letters and sermons given by Jean-Pierre de Caussade on the "sacrament of the present moment." Fr. Benedict speaks about embracing the present moment of life with its lights and shadows and finding in it God's will. He emphasizes that hope is at the heart of Caussade's message. Ultimately, we must have hope that in the vicissitudes of life, God will give us what is necessary to do His will which is the way to salvation.
